Find Your Organizational Style to Begin Spring Cleaning

Everyone loves an organized house. But when it comes to decluttering a space, there isn’t a one-size-fits-all solution. Find out what’s holding you back when it comes to organizing so you can purge your possessions without feeling hollowed out. Here are four different organizational styles:

The Sentimental Collector
You link tender memories to almost every object you own, making it difficult to let go. To solve the problem, take pictures of items before you donate them to a local charitable organization. A digital scrapbook of memories takes up much less space than the three-dimensional objects the photos represent while still allowing for trips down memory lane.

The Creative Project Starter
You have a bunch of half-finished―or never even started―crafts for someday when you finally have the time to complete them. To work with your desire to collect crafty things, set boundaries for your projects-in-the-making. Designate a single tote for these craft projects and commit to keep only what will fit in the container.

The Overwhelmed Organizer
You have the best intentions to get organized, but there are so many things on your plate that you never seem to find time. To deal with feeling overwhelmed, break things down into manageable chunks. Anyone can commit to 15 minutes. Set a timer and you’ll be surprised at what you can accomplish in so little time.

The Procrastinator
Eventually you’ll tackle organizing your closet. But then life happens, and “eventually” never comes. Getting started can be the hardest part, so deal with your procrastination by incentivizing yourself. When you’re done with a project, treat yourself to a hot, relaxing bath or get pizza delivered. Turn a daunting chore into a treat.

No matter your organizational style, there are solutions to get you back on track to keep your house clutter-free.
